Google Hackathon 2009
Attended the Hackathon held at the Singapore Management University (Admin Building) on Tuesday 16th June. Must admit they have a nice campus and that whoever is doing their marketing is pretty good. Like their print ads hanging around.
@pamelafox (lady in picture) was by far the most interesting Google presenter. The French dude was pretty good too. They mostly covered the maps API and also HTML5, which looks pretty awesome, some say will kill off Flash and Silverlight, though I think Silverlight death would be horribly premature.
Best part must have been the #ghacksg twitter hash that lots of folks where tweeting to. Singaporeans are less outspoken when you give them a mic, but in forums and chatrooms, they are a lot more comfortable.
Also managed to meet Stephanie Liu, who gave me first hand advice on Youtube’s Data API which I’m currently working on.
