Streamlined Picasa -> Flickr -> Marsedit -> Tumblr workflow
Blogging doesn’t have to be so hard. When you have to spend considerable effort just to get stuff like images into your blog, you are using the wrong tools.
Previously I was on Blogger, so all I had to do was to click the Blogger button in Picasa and I was on my way. This was something I sorely missed after I switched to Tumblr. But I love the Tumblr integration with other applications and services. I was very happy to find out that Marsedit supports Tumblr but sometimes I don’t use it the way it was intended. Sometimes I like to include a picture with a regular post but this required too much effort to first log in to Flickr, upload, then get link, then insert the link in Marsedit.
Long story short, I use Picasa for photo management (I especially like the collage creation function!) then use picasa2flickr and the Flickr Uploadr to Flickr then finally I use Marsedit to select the photo from the Media button and add the rest of my post.
Also had to modify my theme to be a bit wider (800px to 960px) so that the content column would be 500px to accommodate Flickr’s photo dimensions. A bit of CSS here and there and I somewhat don’t miss Blogger again. Do let me know if there’s a better way…
